CONCERT

hey guys! it's only one day for us to PRACTISE!!

i know most of us are having tests tmr or even on friday! don't be stressed up okay!! jiayouS:)

and yeah today's practice wasn't really up to expectations but hey guys! we can do it! if we can play better than today in the past, WE CAN DO BETTER on friday! don't worry so much yeah;D just left with 2 or even 1 more night to self-prac at home! self-prac isn't a big problem yeah! just 15 mins or even half an hour to practise the part that you have gone wrong during practice! :D JIAYOUS!!

some changes are added to the concert, but don't worry! we still have all the other important pieces that we can show our audience:D

some tips:
1) listen to the links of the songs we are playing and yeah! get the rhythm right!
2) COUNT PROPERLY! don't go off the beat so often and LOOK AT MR GOH!
3) look out for ur bowing! i guess this isn't much of a problem! if you use the wrong bowing during concert, take a deep breath and continue with the song:)
4) SMILE AT ALL TIMES! don't give that serious look to the audience yeah:D :) if
5) if you play wrongly in concert, JUST SMILE AND CONTINUE:D
6) enjoy the music you are playing:D immerse yourself in it and feel for the music:D
7) WHAT IF THE STRING BREAKS OR OUT OF TUNE??!? *touchwood* just go along and act normal:D try to use other strings to play the note if not u just smile and look at
audience:D
8)in solving the out of tune thing, PUSH ALL YOUR pegs IN TIGHTLY!! yup! can ask ur sl help u ba!
9)if you think u are playing wrongly, listen to ur partner!~ your stand partner is always there to help u:D

CONCERT TIPS: (reminder)
1) WALK GLAMLY GIRLS:) hahaha and don't make the stage so noisy=X just try to reduce the noise coming from ur heels xD
2)your bow is facing up and hold ur violin/viola downwards(a bit above shoulder but no t that high)
3) when leaving the stage, walk in orderly manner!! yeah!
4) smile when standing:D
5) LOOK AT MR GOH!:D
6) DON'T DROP THE BOW, INSTRU ON THE FLOOR

yup! don't worry so much though! just 1.5 days left! we can do it yeah:) JIAYOUS RVSE
& just play with energy on that day! and impress your fellow frens in the audience:DD

COMMENTS:
our first piece's 1st mvmt- beginning is GOOD:D there's energy! but there isn't enough energy for other beginnings/ending, so PLS PLAY LOUDER:D:D:D

oh yeah, for violinists and violists, if you feel super tired after holding ur instru, try your best to sit up straight at all times and smile k:DD just endure for a while during concert:D

hey! i don't know whether anyone will come here!! BUT RVSE! we are only left with 19 days! and we only have a few practices left together before the actual concert!
actually i feel rather nervous because there will be around 800 people LOOKING AT US :O

hahah it's the same for band and co concert! SO WE CAN DO IT TOO!

19 days!!
it might be tough for the year 5 and 6 because they are having their MYEs! as juniors, i think we should support them:) JIAYOUS!!

at the same time, we should practise hard for the concert! i believe if all of us do our best in our concert, we will end the concert with NO REGRETS!

we can do it! i trust our conductor, mr goh, has faith in us and HAS EXPECTATIONS OF US! we shouldn't make him disappointed right!! mr goh also puts in effort in finding all these interesting pieces! seeing his effort in typing a wonderful email, shouldn't we thank him for all these by practising hard?

19 days! we can do it yeah! JIAYOUS:)

this concert will be leave a DEEP IMPRESSION for most seniors!WHYY! it might be the last concert for the year 6s and maybe year 5s. SO JUNIORS! we shall make this concert a fruitful one and a good experience for all of us

Hi!

Note that all forms have to be submitted by 8th June 09 (Mon) the first day of music camp. Nominate wisely and most importantly nominate someone whom you trust and will give support to. Self nomination is greatly welcomed. An interview would be called for those who pass the stage of normination which is tentatively at the last week of the june holidays. Hope that all will participate in the nomination process, look forward to see new names appearing in the forms.

The medal is in fact, nothing. I dont know whether how many of you feel the same, but i really gained a lot of this syf. Skills, experience, friendship, passion, love. I know its cliche, but how can the medal be more valuable than all these? Thanks all of you for the effort we all put in, we shall have no regrets.

And you know that perhaps, 2 years later, 4 years later, 10 years later, 20 years later, RVSE can be better, if we try harder. RVSE can walk out of the stage with a smile of our face, saying 'we have truly done mr chan and ourselves proud (: '

Hi all SE mates!

Conclusion to SE tee saga: to wear school badge whenever the shirt is worn.

Glad that we can finally let this case go to rest. Have yet to get official permission so you guys just wash your shirts and keep it on standby. Know some of you are anxious to wear it, so am I. Good job on yesterday's sound test, and thanks to everyone for coming esp. the backstage crew. Do take the advice from Mr Chan, Mr Choy and ZeMing. We still have time, practise hard and play hard. Our "St Paul's Suite" sounds really great :)

SE tee saga cont :l

Hi fellow SE members,

Bringing to you some updates on the SE tee. Checked the cost of reprinting the "RV" logo, it will cost $4 per shirt. Thats if we send it back to the same printer that did our shirt. A cheaper alternative would be to send it to the printer at queensway which already has the school logo, but I cant guarantee quality of the printing. It will be cheaper nonetheless, anywhere from $1 to $4, my hunch is that it would be about $1.50. It would mean that we needa collect money all over again, and there will be delay in giving out the shirts.

It would look quite ugly too, for one is that there's already "RVSE" printed on the left sleeve. If we add another "RV" on the front, it will look ugly.. is it worth the convinience?

Other option is to make it compulsory for everyone to wear school badge whenever the shirt is worn. Everyone would need to get the badge but that shouldnt be the problem cos we will still need the badge when year 4. For year 4 members and above, you already have the badge so it shouldnt be a problem. Despite penalty for not wearing the badge, I thought of a method to combat it. We can have all SLs to keep their members badge in the SE room, with the member it belongs too in the same small ziplock bag.

And we can give it out everytime we wear the shirt, subsequently collect it back at the end so we will always have the badge and no one will get punished cos of this. More detailed plan will be put in place after we have comfirmed that we want to have the badge instead of reprinting.

As for now, there will be a round of voting on coming tuesday. Final decision will be made on that day. When its settled, the shirts will be given out to everyone.

Yes the competition is very near our mid-years, and of course you shouldn't focus too much on syf and neglect your studies. We cannot choose the date of the competition and nobody wants it to be that near the exams, but that doesn't mean we can neglect the syf practices either ):

I think when many of us compare rvse with other performing arts groups, we find ourselves too relaxed. Apparently the syf spirit isn't here in the cca!

We have to treat the competition seriously.
PRACTISE!
That's what Mr Chan always says, but who really listens to him and practise?
He means well because he is our conductor.
He really tried very hard to coach us.
Can we put in effort this time, and not disappoint him?

se tee announcements for 6/3/09

Hi!

Above is the confirmed final design I got from the printer. As said, its different from my drawing, now in solid lines and colours. And the gold has been changed to yellow cos gold will fade after a few washes thus not advisable. Got some important announcement for all comm members especially SLs. So pls come earlier tomorrow I wanna brief you on the plan for the collection.

I need to have everyone's size by tomorrow, those who are not here, SL will need to help account for them. Mark the sizes of all our respective section members on a piece of attendance and also whether they paid you the money. I have the size samples for the range. Took a look at it and its different from normal sizing, so here's how I intend to go around doing it tmr. Xuqin and a few other members will be the gauge for certain sizes, and y'all judge accordingly. Wont be able to pass the samples all around cos I need to return to the printer.

There will be two timings cos checking your size, first is during break. You can stay and come to me or xuqin to check your size, then tell your SL. Or, wait till after ensemble and all members will be there too and you will need to stay even longer. Will require comm member's help on this too. SLs count the money and pass to me the amount at the end of everything.

se tee updates!

Hi all SE members,

I managed to confirm with the printer today and the final price for SE tee is $14. Will get size samples for the polo shirt but I need all of you to check your PE shirt size. Will scale it down accordingly so its easier to get sizes. And the actual shirt will not be the same as the design posted cos they are not able to print such detail so it will be in solid colour. Yupp, just to tell you beforehand.

On friday, all members pass their money and size to their SLs. SLs note it down on an attendance sheet and pass to me by end of break. Finally, wanna ask for your consent on this: are y'all agreeable to use the CCA fund to get SE tee for our teachers in charge and Mr Chan? Ms Yu, Mr Lim and Mr Choy. Cos afterall, without them, the CCA will not be what it is now. Surprise them with it on the day. Also, Mr Choy is leaving the school this year so we should give him something to remember SE by right?

If you agree to it, pls tag and I will ask again on friday if no teacher comes yet.

se tee official news!

Hi all SE members!

The above will be the final design for SE tee. Will not be changing it and currently waiting for school's approval. Hope that you like the new design, sorry if its kinda sudden cos I thought that the previous one may not turn out as nice as the drawing on the shirt so I did a new one. Took the comments from first violins last time and added the bridge and all the other details. This design will go to the back of the SE tee.

Here are some info on the design:

- white polo tee
- colored print for the back (black, gold and brown)
- "rvse" will be printed on the right sleeve
- no design will be in front

Negotiating with the printer for y'all, so lets pray hard that we can get a good price. We should be able to get the shirts by march holiday but in this 2 weeks I will need your help. Cos time will be really tight and I need to collect money and sizes quick so production can start. After confirmation on both the school and printer, things may get messy and SLs will need you to help coordinate. Yupp, any questions post on the tagboard and I will respond to them on friday.

it's not just individual efforts which made us who we are.
it's RVSE as a whole team, working towards the same goal.
the concert may not be perfect, but at least we worked hard for it together.

if we can do well for a concert, we can do well in syf too! :D
let's work hard together and we'll be able to do this.

great job every1, the concert was a success!! :D

my dad took a video of most of it, n it all sounded reli good, other thn sm parts like the cello solo in sinfornia n the triplets in St. Paul's Suite. the Concerto sounded reli good(or shld i say reli reli reli good?), Sinfornia, St. Paul's Suite n Shanty sounded reli strong, n all the other songs sounded reli good too :D if we just keep practicing, try not to make any mistakes, n really put our emotions into the pieces, we might even be able to get a gold for SYF :D it would be hard, bt if every1 gives it their best, i believe anything is possible. keep working hard every1 :D

friday's performance at whampoa was great! thanks to everybody!
anyway, you all would have thought that the audience was too busily indulged in the food to care abt us right?!

well, my friend went whampoa CC to do cip on saturday, and the people there told her that the orchestra from her school performed very well! Then when she asked whether it is string ensemble, they said yes!

proves that they were actually listening yea. :D

lets continue to work hard so that we have much more opportunities next time!
